Let's start packing boxes!
Packing the right items in the right cartons is important. Use the following:
1.5 - Book boxes Picture Boxes
3.0- Medium boxes White newsprint
4.5- Medium large boxes Bubble wrap
5.0- Dish packs Shrink Wrap
Wardrobe boxes Packing Tape
Mattress bags/boxes Brown Paper Pads
1. Keep the weight of each box at or under 30 lbs and less for the fragile items.
2. Label each box, marking which room they will go to upon delivery.
3. Pack fragile items carefully in separate boxes using the proper packing materials and label those boxes: "Fragile".
4. Make sure to tape top and bottom shut to ensure safety of the items inside.
5. Do not pack above the edge of the container/box.
6. Grandfather clocks- Pendulums on clocks should be removed or secured tightly to the base of the clock. Small clocks may be wrapped and placed in boxes.
7. Leave clothes in the dressers as long as their are not any breakables, lose jewelry, or collector items.
8. Valuables- Legal documents, all important papers, jewelry, and currency should be handled by you personally. Keep them in your immediate possession.
9. Moving companies will not assume responsibility for living plants.
10. Mattress- you may purchase additional plastic for your mattress and box spring ahead of time with your mover.
11. Large mirrors will be blanket-wrap to ensure non-breakage.
12. Bric a brac- Wrap separately and pack in cartons, boxes, barrels. Pack largest and heaviest items in bottom of container/boxes. Do not pack over edge of container/boxes. We hope these few pointers will will ensure a safe move for your items.
13. Make sure all your boxes are closed up and ready to go so the mover can stack the boxes easier on the dolly.
